In 2014/2015 she completed an internship program at the Ruminant clinic of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Liege (Belgium), obtaining an additional Masters degree in ruminant medicine. At the end of 2018, she defended her PhD thesis on the topic Biointegration of innovative aortic prosthesis in canine abdominal aorta. After that, she was elected as Assistant Professor and researcher. In 2023 she started Europian residency studies at the European College of Small Ruminant Herd Health Management. Aija Malniece is actively involved in various research projects and activities. She is the author or co-author of 12 peer-reviewed publications indexed in SCOPUS, with an h-index of 4.
