His research interests are bat ecology, especially seasonal migrations and disease. He is the author of more than 20 scientific peer-reviewed articles indexed in SCOPUS, with an h-index of 15. He is a bat expert, certified by Latvian Nature coservation agency and the national scientific focal point at UNEP/EUROBATS Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats.
