Innovative organic fertilizer containing microorganisms Project leader Dace Siliņa Team of project Ina Alsiņa Laila Dubova Adrija Dorbe Tetiana Harbovska Gundega Putniece Duration 2022 - 2025 Research focus 4. Development and adaptation of technologies for obtaining high-value agricultural and forest products, as well as in veterinary medicine Source of funding National grant Project partners Latvian Peat Association (leading partner)University of LatviaLatvian State Forest Research Institute "Silava" Study and research farm "Vecauce""Baltiņi", farmEDO ConsultKlasmann-Deilmann Latvia, LtdLatvian Pig Breeders Association Description of project The aim of research is to use biotechnology to create an organic, long-lasting fertilizer consisting of animal manure, peat and special microorganisms. To develop a product that allows reducing the impact of agriculture on the environment, surface and groundwater pollution with nitrogen and phosphorus-containing compounds after spreading manure using traditional methods. To responsibly manage peat extraction sites, finding a new solution for the use of well-distributed peat, so that all peat resources available at the extraction site can be used economically rationally. The project will result in the creation of loose and granular fertilizers treated with active microorganisms. The tasks of project: Testing of the preparation for the germination of crop seeds and weed seed germination;Testing of the preparation for 3 different genera of crop plants in vegetation containers, performing analyses of plant vegetative parameters using non-destructive methods.
