Fertilizer use in field crops, based on agrochemical soil research, in various regions of Latvia Project leader Agrita Švarta Team of project Merabs Katamadze Duration 2018 - 2021 Research focus 3.Studies of the basic resources of the bioeconomy – land, soil, water – to ensure sustainable use and reduce pollution Source of funding Ministry of Agriculture projects Description of project The yield and quality of spring wheat depend on the interaction of several factors: soil fertility, meteorological conditions, the preceding crop, as well as the agricultural techniques used. If any of the factors change, the crop yield changes. Ensuring a high yield of spring wheat requires balanced fertilization and meteorological conditions favourable to plant development. The aim of research is to demonstrate the use of fertilizers in field crops, based on agrochemical soil researchThe tasks of project:Determination of productivity of crop depending on fertilizing plans.Determination of soil agrochemical properties depending on the fertilizing plans Economical evaluation of the using of fertilizers. Results Demonstration fields were organized in three reģions: LBTU Institute of Agronomy (Zemgale planning region), farm “Lauciņi” (Ikšķile municipality, Riga planning region), LLU Training and research farm “Pēterlauki” Višķi experimental site (Latgale planning region). Demonstrated variants: 1. fertilization according to the technology used farms and 2. Fertilization according to a fertilization plan drawn up on the basis of agrochemical soil parameters. The choice of fertilizing plans significantly increased the grain yield of spring wheat in conditions of lack of precipitations, however, the lack of precipitation cannot be compensated only by the amount of mineral fertilizers
