To prepare methodological solutions for mapping the Latvian landscape and sustainable landscape management. The tasks of project: To assess of the legal framework in Latvia and examples of foreign policies of land resources managementTo summarize the previous practice and methodological solutions of landscape assessment and management in Latvia and other countriesTo assess the efficiency of land resource use in economics and provision of ecosystem servicesTo develop alternative scenarios for land resources management efficiencyTo prepare and test a knowledge-based methodological approach for landscape assessment and management in LatviaTo prepare a digital Latvian landscape atlas with project resultsTo develop the framework and guidelines for sustainable land resource and landscape managementTo prepare and provide dissemination of the scientific publications and practical results to social partners, governmental institutions and other stakeholders Results -Reporting on the impacts of future climate change challenges on land resources, alternative land use scenarios and general principles for rational land use at landowner/user, municipal and national levels; - a landscape assessment of the entire territory of Latvia, excluding cities, the results of which have been compiled in a freely accessible digital atlas of Latvian landscapes; - proposals for the designation of areas of national scenic value as part of the landscape assessment; - a handbook on "Approaches to Landscape Research and Assessment in Latvia".
